TROXNETCOM

TROXNETCOM – THE FILM

When you enter a building, you want to be sure it's safe. You don't want to worry about fire protection or smoke control. You need not worry with TROXNETCOM: The TROX overall control system for complex fire and smoke protection solutions, with just ONE interface for ALL components!

Watch the video above for a demonstration of TROXNETCOM controls scenarios.

TROXNETCOM - SYSTEM FEATURES

  • The system is activated by a signal from the fire alarm system which triggers the damper control closing all motorised fire dampers in the event of a fire.
  • In normal operation the system continually monitors all connected devices checking for faults every 5 ms. The system is designed to be fail safe and faults displaying on the display and on the connected BMS for immediate interrogation and rectification.
  • This is a modular system bringing together standard preconfigured switch boxes to build small or large systems.
  • No separate power supply cables are needed to each motorised fire damper and where non fire rated cable can be used it is possible to take advantage of the AS-i. simple wiring system with connecting clamps with insulation displacement connectors.
  • TROX motorised fire dampers and smoke control dampers come factory fitted with the AS-i. interface module motorised fire dampers with interface modules include the standard AS-i. cable connector for quick connection to AS-i. flat cable.
  • The system is available with a touch screen display and TROXNETCOM basic user software for day-to-day management of the system.
  • The communications master provides an interface for the BMS for monitoring.

AS-INTERFACE

TROXNETCOM-AS-i system is based on the standardised industrial technologies AS-Interface and Profibus® DP or MODBUS® TCP. It is a highspeed Master / Slave structure with continuous polling and data exchange and verification every 5 ms design from its conception to be a failsafe system.

Fire protection systems can be set up with standard controllers and combine one or more controller and power units with modules for capturing of the end positions and actuator control.

TROX modules are characterised by a wide spectrum of functions yet simple cabling. It uses AS-i protocol at fieldbus level to connect to dampers using a two-core flat cable or fire rated E(xx)cable for data and power in a free topology. This reduces the wiring effort and minimises wiring errors. The entire system is very flexible, connections are logical address driven not physical. It is easy to commission as it supports users with tools that simplify commissioning.

The AS-i. technology Fieldbus system is an expandable system for up to 1736 motorised fire dampers with communication interfaces to higher level systems (BACnet / MODBUS).  The AS interface is a world-standard safe and secure bus system that meets the standard of EN 50295 and IEC 62026-2. It enables the integration of different components (modules) in a network regardless of the manufacturer and the design.

FIELDBUS ARCHITECTURE

The AS-i. fieldbus is a free topology network, fieldbus segments can consist of 100m of total cable length 2 core 1.5mm2. The term free topology means that several topologies are allowed such as Star, Line, String and tree.

Up top 31 AS-i. slaves can be connected to each AS-i. master.

REPEATERS

Repeaters allow a cable extension by a further 100 m in AS-Interface. The number of possible participants remains unchanged. Each repeater has an electrical separation which divides the network into two segments and after each repeater an additional AS-i. power supply is required.

Note: Take into account all branches and spurs in the calculation of the length!

NETWORKING

For larger systems a number of controllers can be used and networked together to make one large system. AS-i controllers can be configured to communicate using Modbus TCP or Profibus DP.

INTERFACES

TROXNETCOM AS-i. is activated by a signal from the fire alarm system. A closed volt free contact provided by the fire alarm panel is continuously monitored and when the contact opens the TROXNETCOM AS-i. system is activated. Where all dampers are to close on activation only one input is required but where the system is divided in to activation zones one inputs can be specified. For smoke extraction systems manual input interfaces can also be specified as well.

BUILDING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (BMS)

When a TROXNETCOM communication master is specified, this is equipped with an Ethernet network adapter for the purpose of interfacing the building management system. This allows the building management system to monitor the status of the TROXNETCOM-AS-i system using either Modbus TCP or BACnet IP protocols. The Ethernet network adapter is configurable to suit the BMS and supports DHCP.

MSR_En

The modular, expandable controls on industrial PC basis can communicate with virtually all building management systems via BACnet and Modbus.

TROXNETCOM CONFIGURATIONS

TROXNETCOM AS-I CONFIGURED FOR 30 OR 60 DAMPERS

There are two standard configurations for simple systems of up to 30 or 60 dampers.

Discover 30 or 60 Damper configurations

TROXNETCOM AS-I LARGE MOTORISED FIRE DAMPER SYSTEMS

It is possible to design larger TROXNETCOM AS-i systems where up to 1735 AS-i enabled dampers can be controlled by one system.  By networking multiple TROXNETCOM AS-i preconfigured switch boxes together the system can be built up in a modular fashion.

TROXNETCOM AS-I CONTROL OF SMOKE CONTROL DAMPERS

Where smoke extraction is required in a building TROXNETCOM AS-i can be configured to control smoke control dampers compliant to BS EN 12101-8 which form part of a larger smoke and heat control system as described in BS ISO 21927-9.
