Following the agreed deal between the UK and the European Union TROX UK, in consultation with colleagues at our parent company TROX GROUP, is continuing to implement the measures required to successfully operate and support UK demands.

We recognise that our customers may continue to have questions and the relevant details and our status relating to these can be found below.

Actions taken by TROX UK to prepare

Following the vote to leave the European Union, TROX UK established a cross-functional BREXIT team to identify and implement measures to minimise risks to our business and ensure the continued compliance of our products and services. To facilitate activities, the team have followed UK Government advice and engaged with relevant industry bodies to ensure that all relevant aspects of BREXIT have been addressed.

TROX UK is supported in its activities by TROX Group (TROX Group, based in Germany, has 32 subsidiary companies including 19 production facilities. TROX is present in over 70 countries, has around 4,000 employees and generates annual revenues of more than €530M).

Product compliance – UKCA Marking

The UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) mark is a new United Kingdom (UK) product mark that will be used for goods being placed on the market in Great Britain (GB - England, Wales and Scotland), following the UK's exit from the European Union (EU). The UKCA Mark will replace the CE mark and covers most goods that previously required CE marking. UKCA marking came into effect from 1st January 2021 however, to allow businesses time to adjust to the new conformity assessment requirements, CE marking of products until 1st January 2022 will be accepted within the GB market.

CE marking of a product will be accepted until 31st December 2021 if any of the following apply:

  • Application of the CE mark to a product on a self-declaration basis.
  • The mandatory third-party conformity assessment was carried out by an EU-27 recognized Notified Body (including a body in a country with which the EU has a relevant mutual recognition agreement).
  • The certificate of conformity previously held by a UK approved body has been transferred to an EU-27 recognized Notified Body.

TROX UK is working with the newly appointed UK Approved Bodies to transfer existing certification across to the new conformity assessment requirements and provide UKCA marking on or before 31st December 2021.

Will product lead-times be affected?

TROX UK has implemented formal relationships, including an auditing process, with suppliers/freight forwarders to enable all of the relevant export and import documentation to be completed efficiently thereby minimising the risk of delay at ports.

TROX UK and TROX GmbH will continue to engage with EU suppliers to minimise risks to the security of supply. Should the need arrive, TROX UK also benefits from access to other TROX Group manufacturing facilities.

Based on the measures implemented locally at TROX UK, and at our parent company, we do not anticipate changes to our given lead-time information. Should you have concerns we always recommend providing TROX UK with early visibility and placement of your order.

Sourcing of materials/holding stock

As is typical in the industry, TROX UK import an extensive range of products, components and raw materials to support our UK based manufacture. These raw materials are sourced from facilities worldwide, including the EU. As a subsidiary of TROX Group, in addition to sourcing from general suppliers, TROX UK also sources products and components from our parent and sister subsidiaries which affords us greater control and contingency.

However, following review by our BREXIT team, we have increased stock holding of some standard components and raw materials as a contingency to minimise future risks.

Does TROX UK have an EORI number?

Yes, TROX UK EORI: GB163867769000

We hope the above information addresses the questions you may have but if you require additional information then please contact your local key account manager, Head of External Sales (Mr Steve Law, slaw@troxuk.co.uk) or me directly as required.
