Colleagues at Thetford-based company TROX were thrilled to be able to help local good causes on Wednesday 26th February with a donation to the Thetford Shines Brighter initiative. Employees of the company, based at the Caxton Way Industrial Estate, presented a cheque for an impressive £2,125.30 to help the initiative achieve its aims.

Launched in October 2019, Thetford Shines Brighter is led by local people and facilitated by Norfolk Community Foundation to make a difference to those who live and work in the town. Thetford people have come together to create a pot of money to help great community projects get off the ground, and start changing local lives.

Colleagues at TROX decided to join forces, at the beginning of 2024, to help Thetford Shines Brighter. Hannah Wicks (Customer Service Manager) and Lynn Grover (Receptionist) co-ordinated a whole host of events and activities throughout 2024 to generate funds. Activities included an Easter Egg Raffle, a Guess the Sweets in the jar Competition, three Bake Sales, and a Summer Vouchers Raffle.

Employees also organised and supported two Big Breakfast Days and a Christmas Raffle, with prizes for raffles generously donated by local and regional businesses, organisations and attractions.

Lynn Grover said: “There are lots of national fundraising events these days, but raising money for local causes is especially close to our hearts. Many of us live locally and have seen the huge positive impact of the Thetford Shines Brighter funded projects.”

Hannah Wicks added: “I am thrilled with the success of our recent charity events, which were not only incredibly fun but also wonderfully supported by our colleagues and local businesses. It was a true pleasure to organise these events, seeing so many team members here in Thetford come together to contribute made it even more special. We are delighted to present a cheque to the Thetford Shines Brighter initiative, knowing that our collective efforts will really help some great community projects in our local area.”

The bright ideas and dedication of the TROX employees have brought an unexpected bonus too. TROX has been recognised by Norfolk Community Foundation as a valued member of its Good for Good scheme. This links charities and businesses, to help employees get involved in fundraising, and to make a difference in their local areas.

Clare Pulham, HR Manager at TROX UK added: “We are delighted to have been awarded with the Good for Good kitemark and will display this kitemark with pride as further recognition of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and as a further affirmation of how our Sustainability values and practices deliver impact in supporting our local community.”

Sophie Berry, head of Norfolk Community Foundation’s Good for Good programme, said: “It’s wonderful to see businesses like TROX supporting their local community in such a hands-on way. Their fundraising efforts for Thetford Shines Brighter will make a real difference to local projects, and it’s great to see their team come together to give something back. We’re pleased to recognise their commitment through our Good for Good scheme and hope it encourages other businesses to get involved in strengthening communities across Norfolk.”
