Main Purpose of Job

  • To identify and develop optimal global sources of supply for purchased direct materials, indirect materials, goods and services.
  • To negotiate cost-effective supply contracts with respect to local supply. 

Education and Experience

  • Educated to degree/HND in Engineering or Business Studies
  • Membership of, or working towards, the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply qualification
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualification procurement experience

Person Specification - Knowledge

  • Understanding the supply markets for engineering materials
  • Experience of sourcing from low cost countries
  • Highly computer literate with good level of numeracy and literacy
  • Ability to extract data and manipulate to show usage requirements
  • Kanban and JIT manufacturing processes
  • Ability to conduct "make or buy" reviews
  • Demonstrable success in cost reduction through Value Engineering
  • To be proficient in the use of Windows, Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Vendor assessment site visits

Main Duties

  • Lead annual cost-down initiatives through negotiation, design improvement identification and process improvement adoption
  • Ensure supplier on-time delivery and quality performance targets are achieved
  • Development of the supplier base capability in adoption of lean manufacturing technology
  • Ensure inventory stock turn targets are maintained
  • Negotiation and documenting of supply agreements
  • Supplier rationalisation and reduction
  • Entry of Purchase Orders into INFOR LN system
  • Maintenance of Purchasing and Item Master database
  • Supplier monthly reporting
  • Problem resolution with delinquent suppliers
  • To build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues within TROX
  • To actively promote all purchasing initiatives
  • Coach other TROX staff on purchasing issues
  • Give support to the manufacturing team
  • Assume role of Key User Purchasing for LN

The post holder may be required to carry out any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the line manager.
