The planning and commissioning of a LON project is typically executed or supported by a systems integrator.
The systems integrator's task is to plan the LON network and thus define the structure and required network components (backbone, bridges, routers, repeaters). The systems integrator logically and functionally interlinks the individual LON components of an area (room, hallway, ..) using a binding software, e.g. Echelon LonMaker.
To enable a conveniently configuration of the LON modules , this binding software is supplemented by device-specific software components called LNS Plug-Ins. Using a menu-guided user interface, the operating parameters for each individual controller can be configured via the LON network from a central network access point.
