In a contract worth around £2 million, leading air distribution system provider TROX UK has supplied fan coil units for Land Securities’ prestigious New Street Square mixed-use estate which occupies a prominent site in New Fetter Lane, London.
The scheme, comprising four major new buildings set around a new public square, includes one high rise tower, two medium rise atrium buildings and one low rise block. It replaces an assortment of 1960s buildings with cutting-edge sustainable architecture.
TROX undertook extensive development work to produce the airside fan coil units to the precise energy efficiency/consumption specification demanded by developer Land Securities, including the following series of comprehensive tests:
The fan coil units were fabricated off-site with TROX factory-fitting the building management system controls, wiring, crane commissioning valve assemblies, and special brackets to reduce on-site commissioning and thus save time and money.
TROX also supplied a comprehensive range of grilles and diffusers for the New Street Square project via Eastbourne-based ductwork contractor Hotchkiss.
TROX worked closely with the entire design team from an early stage in the project and offered a series of unbeatable guarantees. It also thoroughly tested the products off-site at its specialist state-of-the-art laboratories in Thetford.
New Street Square’s office accommodation, totaling 705,176 sq ft, will provide flexibility to both large and small businesses. To date approximately 500,000 sq ft of the offices has been pre-let to top accountancy firm Deloitte and law firms Speechly Bircham and to Taylor Wessing LLP.
The consultant for this project was Cundall, the contractor was McAlpine, and the m&e contractor was Amec.
