TROX EXTEND RANGE OF INTEGRATED SERVICE MODULES
Combined swirl diffuser and lighting at TROX R & D Centre.
The multi service approach on chilled beams has increased interest in the range of integrated service modules manufactured by TROX in its Thetford, Norfolk factory. The integrated service module (ISM) is the terminal device for fan coil and VAV systems but includes more components than just the air distribution diffusers. The most common integration is to include the lighting and diffuser within the ceiling panel. Other components and services such as sensors, sprinkler heads and public address can also be included.
TROX have just been awarded a £200,000 contract to supply ISMs incorporating swirl diffusers and lighting to Faraday House, a prominent office building in Reading.
The multi service approach with ISM means that the air distribution and other components can be designed to give a high quality aesthetic appearance. It also gives the architect more freedom to design and integrate the air distribution and to achieve the best overall finish.
The ISMs are pre-fabricated and assembled in the factory and delivered to site as a composite unit. This pre-fabrication within a controlled factory environment gives improved quality and reduces installation time.
Terry Farthing, Head of Communications, said that he felt this is the way the air distribution market would go in the future which is a parallel to the popularity of the multi service chilled beam. Once consultants and architects are aware of this option the argument for combining ceiling mounted components into a single panel is extremely attractive for most major projects.
