TROX WIN 2 HVAC OSCARS

18/05/2006

TROX HONOURED FOR EXCELLENCE IN INNOVATION AND PROFESSIONALISM Nearly 1,000 people came together to celebrate the best in the industry at what have affectionately become known as the ‘HVAC Oscars’ on May 18th at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane. Seventeen Awards were presented across three categories, Initiatives, Products, and People & Company awards. The Awards identify and celebrate the continuing progress being made by the HVAC sector in improved working practices, energy efficiency and reducing impacts on the environment. Rowan Crowley, Group Director, Emap Maclaren Building Services Group, said: “Every year the quality of the entrants, finalists, winners and the night itself gets bigger and better. A big thank you needs to go out to all the people who entered and supported the awards. It is a great event and it couldn’t have been done without them.” THE AWARDS – Judges Observations Marketing Initiative of the Year - TROX UK The judges were impressed by the company’s well executed comprehensive marketing package to support the launch of its new range of fan coil units. The aim was to promote a ‘single package’ comprising fan coil units, plenums and diffusers. This was a radical move away from the traditionally accepted approach of selling these products separately. Extensive research was undertaken prior to the launch – including consultation with contractors and consultants, to gauge the needs of the market. Several measures such as tackling the issue of noise and offering a triple guarantee covering acoustics, air distribution and thermal output were implemented in direct response. The company’s use of a wide range of marketing tools such as seminars and an extensive PR campaign also generated high profile editorial coverage in the trade press. The judges felt that the overall initiative had delivered tangible benefits to the company. Sponsored by Fujitsu Air Conditioning Air Conditioning Product of the Year - TROX AITCS The TROX system was described by the judges as ‘brilliant use of existing technology to meet the demands of a new high tech problem’. The CO2OLrac high performance cooling system has been designed to tackle high heat gains from blade servers used in IT and telecoms. A fan is used to draw the heat across a heat exchanger, which is supplied with liquid CO2. This can be supplied as a complete system or connected to a building’s existing chilled water supply. The TROX solution could be as much as 30 per cent more efficient than conventional methods. Also CO2 has far less potential to harm the environment than other types of manufactured refrigerant. The judges were also pleased to note that the company had incorporated leak detection monitoring. Sponsored by Fläkt Woods
