TROX AT THE FACILITIES SHOW
11 - 13 May 2010, NEC Birmingham, Stand B11
At the Facilities Show, leading manufacturer of air conditioning systems TROX will be providing visitors with practical and effective methods for reducing energy consumption of currently installed HVAC equipment, as well as discussing the latest new products in this area.
There are a number of things that TROX can do to help facilities managers achieve their carbon reduction objectives. For example, it is estimated that, in offices across the UK, around one million VAV (variable air volume) boxes are installed for air conditioning. TROX advises that simple upgrading of older-style units can hold the key to major carbon reductions and energy savings, without ever needing to relocate building occupants.
The older models of VAV boxes feature mechanical dampers, incorporating springs and weights, which require high static pressure to operate (typically 200 Pascals (PA). Today’s boxes and valves require much lower pressures to operate them (typically just 20 Pa) meaning there is a huge potential for saving energy. Reducing downstream pressure by around 180Pa, in a building of 40,000 m2 would result in a reduction of 208,000 kWh per annum – which equates to a staggering 132,440 kg reduction in carbon emissions.
TROX supplies replacement flow rate controllers for VAV boxes (the TVR-Easy and the TVR Varycontrol) that are ideal for retrofitting. Alternatively the TROX Service Division can undertake a full survey of your VAV air conditioning systems to encompass on-site examination and initial validation of existing air conditioning assets, refurbishment or replacement, and final commissioning. They are skilled in working with equipment from all air conditioning equipment manufacturers and can assist with any installation of any age.
This is just one area in which TROX can help. Visit Stand B11 for more energy saving and carbon reduction ideas, or to discuss any issue relating to comfort cooling.
