TROX ACADEMY UPGRADED

28/11/2008

TROX Academy is now featuring new developments that have not yet been generally released to the market place covering the use of CO2 as a secondary refrigerant and energy savings that have been calculated by CIBSE approved software for VAV fan coils.

The use of CO2 was discussed in some detail at the recent TROX Academy presentations and also covered the improved efficiency and resilience gained from the application of high capacity magnetic hermetic pumps.  Further developments for data centre cooling were unveiled including the use of DC motors to improve power factor and overall fan efficiency and changes to the thermal dynamics of the blade server cabinets to increase the removal of heat.

With VAV fan coils a detailed energy analysis was shown for the first time giving the audience detailed data on the projected annual savings on building electricity costs compared to conventional fan coils systems.

All days were fully booked and Terry Farthing, Head of TROX Academy, said: “Most people who attended were on recommendations from colleagues so word is getting around about the value of our factory based training schemes.  Also the fact that we focus in on new developments is an added incentive to attend”.

Another reason for the success of these training programmes is that each session in the training room is followed by a visit to the laboratory where the actual system is demonstrated and tested.  This second part of the training programme provides a unique opportunity to see the system operating usually in a specially created mock up area.  By doing this the principles discussed in the training room can then be visualised in the laboratory.  Also to see the actual components that go into the system first hand helps to bring out all the salient features.

Other subjects covered include multi service chilled beams, air distribution, and dealer desk cooling using CO2.

The next TROX Academy training days are Wednesday 25th March, Thursday 26th March, Wednesday 13th May and Thursday 14th May 2009, or if you require tailor made courses contact Terry Farthing on 01842 851215 or email tfarthing@troxuk.co.uk
