FSA BUILDING REFURBISHED WITH TROX VAV
720 VAV boxes were refurbished by TROX Service Division
TROX UK’s Service Division has completed a contract to refurbish the 720 variable air volume (VAV) boxes that serve the air conditioning system at the prestigious Canary Wharf headquarters of the Financial Services Authority (FSA).
The project involved validating the 15 year-old VAV boxes, recommending refurbishment actions and then carrying out that refurbishment work which involved changing the fans, the actuators that drive the blade open and shut, and other components as required.
Michael Wild, manager of TROX Service Division, outlines the challenges of the project: “The building was occupied so the client released floors individually by moving people to other areas to accommodate this.
“It was a rolling programme so we were completing a floor or two floors at a time. The programme was tight, but it was very important that we got our part of the programme completed on time and to the highest quality, otherwise we would have held the entire project up and inconvenienced the client by disrupting the migration of people to appropriate offices.”
The consultants were hurleypalmerflatt, the services contractor was M J Lonsdale and project managers ISG.
