In 2016, Southampton Solent University opened the doors of its striking new £33million teaching and learning building, "The Spark". Built over five storeys the new building provides 40 teaching spaces (35 classrooms and 5 lecture rooms) resulting in a combined teaching capacity of 1,500 students at any one time.
The building is easily recognisable with its red atrium 'pod' which hosts a lecture theatre with an open-topped viewing platform.
Based around the active chilled beam DID632, TROX UK designed and manufactured multi-service chilled beams for the project. As with many MSCB projects, the beams were specifically tailored to meet the needs of the project and luminaires were incorporated into the multi-service chilled beam solution.
